Finally Number 4
The Utensyle of Kytchen Disciplynne
An actual medieval device, which can be seen in the tome Kuchenmeisterei, (Augsburg, 1507) and revived by Leatherbeaten almost 500 years later, the Utensyle of Kytchen Disciplynne was how Bavarians of the middle ages ensured dishes were done to Milord and Milady's stringent criteria of cleanliness and celerity. The Utensyle, @today style, is a three tailed knotted flogger made of medium weight cowhide. The knots are super dense Diamond Button knots, which compress six inches of leather into a knot barely ½" in diameter. The tails are attached to a relatively long handle, decorated with three leather collars, each accented top and bottom with bands of silver wire. Very eyecatching, and quite the perfect thing to have on hand when you're expecting Prinz von Thurn und Taxis (and retinue) at any moment for a big feast, and one of your hapless kitchen drones has just dropped the tortus of fysshe all over the kytchen floor . .
Handle: 12" hardwood, black leather bands, silver wire
Lash: three 3/8" x 12" black 4oz leather knotted ends
PS will have a bigger pic of this soon
